Imagine yourself on a fishing boat embraced by the quietness of the lake … then all of a sudden you hear birds. That’s who Ernest (Tin) is to me.
I’ve known her since kindergarten- circa 1989. Yes, I dug up our old class picture and boy we were cute kids. I remember we were in 4th grade when she sang and gave me the lyrics to Lea Salonga’s song, it goes, “I’ll always cherish wonderful moments you have given me. You are in my heart wherever I may be…” fitting to how our friendship is now since I’m here in LA and she’s back home.
Tin (Ernest, is what I fondly call her) is not your typical gal, she didn’t have a clique, and had zero interest fitting in. You’ll see her almost gliding down our school hallway smiling, and you instantly feel happy. The kindness of her heart really is what makes everybody just feel accepted.
Ernest is a cool cat – I’m so glad I got to be around her growing up.
Our friendship is that soft wave that rolls in and even if the tide pulls back, I know we’ll reconnect and it’s just like we were never apart. It’s a pretty unique friendship because of who she is. She’s my soft rolling wave, the birds at the lake, and the happy glider.
